Jakarta – The Indonesian government has demonstrated its commitment to developing the country’s carbon market, notably through the launch of the IDXCarbon trading platform in 2023. As part of support to strengthen this ecosystem, TruCarbon officially introduced CarboNEX 2025 on Monday, April 22, 2025, at the Main Hall of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).
CarboNEX 2025 is a conference followed by a series of workshops, aimed at deepening understanding and fostering collaboration among businesses engaged in carbon trading in Indonesia.
Supported by IDXCarbon and IBM Indonesia, CarboNEX 2025 provides a platform for companies seeking to participate in the carbon market to gain first-hand insights, ranging from policy developments delivered by regulators to practical strategies shared by industry experts.
The event was opened by Debby Reynata, CEO of TruCarbon, as the host, and Iman Rachman, President Director of IDX. “CarboNEX 2025 is a call to move forward together. Climate change is a collective challenge, and therefore, the solutions must also be collaborative,” said Debby Reynata.
The main session featured a panel discussion with policymakers, including Eddy Soeparno, Deputy Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly; Diaz Hendropriyono, Vice Minister of Environment and Forestry; and Jeffrey Hendrik, Director of Development at IDX. The discussion focused on the progress of carbon trading and the establishment of Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) between Indonesia and international registries.
“IDXCarbon is currently in the process of registering with several international registries such as Verra, Gold Standard, and others. Once carbon units listed in these registries are approved by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for trading on the carbon exchange, we will be ready to facilitate the transactions,” explained Jeffrey Hendrik on IDXCarbon’s readiness to support international market integration.
Beyond policy, CarboNEX 2025 also highlighted discussions on advancing the carbon market through digital technologies, nature-based solutions, and inclusive participation. Topics included engagement in carbon markets via the transition to electric vehicles (EVs), the adoption of technologies for carbon accounting and MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, Verification), and the vital role of women entrepreneurs in driving a sustainable green economy.
The launch coincided with Earth Day and embraced the spirit of Kartini Day, reinforcing CarboNEX 2025’s commitment to sustainability and inclusivity.
As part of the celebration, TruCarbon also invited prominent women leaders in sustainability, including Ratna Kartadjoemena, Founder of Paloma Sjahrir Foundation and Bicara Udara; Melissa A. Hamid, Head of BPP HIPMI Womenpreneur; and Sabta Elisa, CEO of PT Era Sinergi Guna.
CarboNEX 2025 aspires to be a collaborative space that unites businesses, regulators, investors, carbon buyers, and civil society organizations to strengthen the foundations of Indonesia’s carbon market collectively.
At TruCarbon, we take a holistic approach to strengthening the carbon market by bridging policy and regulation, advancing education, and guiding organizations through their decarbonization journey with both nature-based and technology-driven solutions.
